How to manage my domain name
To manage your domain name, log in to your account:
- Click on the Manage (Login) link from the menu on the left of this page
- Enter your Domain Name, User ID and password
- Then select to either Bulk Manage (contacts, nameservers or passwords) or Renew your domain

How to update domain name contact details
To modify the contact details (excluding the organisation name field), just follow these simple steps:
- Login to manage your account
- Ensure your domain is checked and click on Bulk Manage Selected
- Click on Manage Contacts (this is the default view)
- Add or change detaisl by either copying from other domains or contacts, or entering new details
- Then click Save Changes

How to change my name servers
To modify the name server information follow these simple steps:
- Login to manage your account
- Ensure your domain is checked and click on Bulk Manage Selected
- Click on Manage Nameserver/Hosts
- Remove existing nameservers if required
- Type your Primary and Secondary name servers, then click Save Changes

How to renew my domain name?
If you have received a renewal notice for your domain, or just want to renew your domain name, you can do this on our website. Simply click on "Renew Domain" from the menu on the left side of the page and follow the instructions. You can also go to "Manage (Login)" to renew your domain.

What's included with my Domain Name?
Our prices include all administrative and registry fees for the number of years you are registered with us. We also provide domain management login where you can manage nameservers and contacts and renewal reminder emails.

How do I register a Domain Name?
All you have to do is go to our Register Domain page and lodge a search in the Domain Search box. You will then be advised whether or not the domain is available. If it is available, you can continue with your order. If it is not available, please search again.

Are there any ongoing hidden fees?
No, once you have registered your domain name it is yours, providing you pay the renewal every period it is due.

How many domains can I register?
As many as you like, there is no limit.

What if the name I want isn't available?
Don't be put off. There are lots to choose from. If you want an international name, try using ".net", ".org" or ".biz" instead of ".com". In Australia there are many alternatives to choose from - ".net.au", ".org.au" and ".id.au". If you still can't find the name you want, email us and we'll be happy to suggest some for you.

Can I register a brand name?
If it is your own brand name then yes. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that you do not infringe the rights of any other company or individual. If you register a brand-name or company name which belongs to another company as a domain name, we reserve the right to cancel the registration. Furthermore, you will be liable for any costs incurred as a result of the registration.

How long does my domain name take to approve?
Domains are approved automatically as soon as your order is submitted online. However, some domain names do require manual processing and these will normally be processed within 24 working hours.
Automated registration only applies to the following domain names:
.com | .net | .org | .info | .biz | .co.nz | .net.nz
24 hour approval applies to the following domain names:
.co.uk | .me.uk | .com.au | .net.au | .org.au | .id.au | .acn.au

I don't have a web site. Can I still register a domain?
Yes. You can register as many domain names as you like.

How many characters can my domain name have?
Your domain name can have up to 63 characters, not including the extension (.com.au or .org.au are examples of extensions).

Who can register .co.nz domain names?
Anyone is eligible to register names with the major New Zealand extensions such as co.nz, org.nz, net.nz - you DO NOT need to be a New Zealand company to do so.

What characters can be used in domain names?
Domain names can have up to 63 characters. You could even choose something like can-have-up-to-63-characters.com.au for your domain name. You will sometimes find references to 67 characters in domain names. This includes the dot and the letters c-o-m as an additional 4 characters. The valid characters for use in all domain names are:
- any of the letters a to z (for example, abcdefg.com.au)
- any numbers 0 to 9 (for example, 911.com.au)
- you may also use a hyphen (-) (for example, place-hyphens-here.com.au)
- the domain can be a combination of numbers, letters and hyphens
- the domain can begin and end in a number (for example, 9to5.com.au)

Why can't I buy a domain name that has expired?
Although a domain name may have expired, it is not immediately available for registration by the general public. Depending on the registrar, they may keep hold of the domain name for several months.

Does the domain name registration include an e-mail address?
No, The domain name comes as is. If you require personal emails or emails for your business, you will need email hosting.

Can I register the domain name and hosting combined as one package?
No. Each package needs to be purchased separately as required. Once we receive your domain name order and hosting order we will connect and do all the setup for you.

How do I connect my domain to my website?
To connect your domain name to your website, you must have a web hosting service to which you can upload your website. We offer a very competitive web hosting service that we can set up and get running for you easily. Click here to find out about our hosting service.

How do I point my domain to my hosting provider?
After you have purchased your domain name and received confirmation of registration, you will need to login to the Manage (Login) and update your name servers to point to your hosting provider's servers.

I've lost my password - what do I do?
To recover your password, click on Manage (Login), then click on "Forgot Password", then type in the domain name (and security characters) and the password will be sent to the domain contact email address. If you still can't recover your password, please email us.

Domain Transfers

How do I transfer my domain name to OzHostz Domains?
To transfer your domain name to OzHostz Domains, click on "Transfer Domain" from the menu on the left, then enter the domain name/s that you wish to transfer and click on next. In all cases you will need the Domain Password (Auth Info). Once a transfer is submitted an email will go out to the current contact for the Domain requesting approval. Once approved the domain will transfer to us.
When the transfer is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.

How
long does a transfer take?
For AU Domains the process takes 2 days and if the Domain Name expires within 90 days of the transfer a renewal will process with the transfer. For top level Domains such as .com, .net etc, a 1 year renewal will be processed with the transfer and the transfer takes 5 days to complete. Others may take varying times.

How do I transfer my Domain away from OzHostz Domains?
For Domian Names being transferred to other Registrars from OzHostz Domains, contact the new Registrar and process the transfer with them. The losing Registrar has no part in the transfer away process.

Do I lose any time on my expiry date when transferring?
No time is lost from the current expiry date with a transfer. If a renewal is processed with the transfer the period is added to the current expiry date.

Does a transfer affect my DNS or Hosting settings??
A transfer does not affect the operation of your Domain Name in anyway, the DNS settings attached to the Domain before transfer will carry across to the new Registrar.

Website & Hosting Questions

How do you bill for your services and how can I pay?
All OzHostz web hosting charges are billed on sign-up and annually thereafter. Web design package deposits are billed on sign-up, and the balance of the set-up and first annual charge are billed on completion of your website. Web design maintenance charges are billed annually thereafter.
All payments can be made via Secure Online PayPa; transactions that are billed in Australian dollars. Initial set-up and deposit charges can be made from our pages that offer these services. You will invoiced separately for any other types of payments.

Will I be charged PayPal transaction fees?
No - all payment gateway fees are paid by OzHostz - the cost you see is the charge we bill.

Will my site be backed up?
A backup facility is provided in your control panel so you can back up your site as often as you like. Our servers are also backed-up for your protection, but we recommend that you do your own back-ups.

Do you have any limitations on the types of content which can be held on your servers?
Yes, we do. Your site must be legal and must not encourage illegal behavior. It must not contain any obscene, threatening or hateful material. Examples of unacceptable content include pornography, pirated software, materials related to hacking, and nudity.

Do you accept international orders?
Yes we accept orders from anywhere around the world.

Do you put banner ads on my web page?
No, we do not place banner ads or any other form of advertising on the web pages of any of our hosting or web design packages. We may request to place a small "Hosted by OzHost" or "Designed by OzHost" logo on your front page, however this will only ever be done with your permission.

Can I send spam (unsolicited bulk email) from your servers?
No. In fact, we have a strict anti-spam policy.

Do you offer Internet Access through dialup or other facilities?
No. You will need to gain access to the Internet through a local Internet Service Provider. Once you have access to the Internet, you will be able to manage your web site on our servers from wherever you are in the world. You can manage files via FTP or your Control Panel.

How long does it take to set up a new Web Hosting account?
All new accounts will be set up within 24 hours from the time we receive your order, however in practice it is generally much qicker, perhaps just a few hours. Once your account is set up, we will send you an email to let you know your account details and login information. If you are using FTP or our Control Panel to upload your site, you can begin uploading files to your new web site as soon as you receive your account details. You will be given a temporary URL to access your site via the web prior to the completion of your domain name registration/transfer. If you are using FrontPage to upload your site, you will need to wait until your domain name has been registered or transferred before you can publish your site - that usually takes a day or two.

Do I get detailed statistics about my site?
Yes, you have access to daily statistical reports about your site's traffic. The reports will include information about visitors, page views, file accesses, referrers, browsers used by your visitors, platforms used by your visitors, visitors' hosts, visitors' top-level domains, and the most common entry and exit pages. These reports are among the most detailed and useful around, but you will also have access to your raw log files in case you want to examine the data further.
